Keith Olbermann is een Amerikaanse journalist die, geheel in de traditie van de legendarische Eward Murrow, voor het programma 'Countdown' een soort hoofdredactioneel commentaar levert actuele gebeurtenissen op nieuwszender MSNBC.
Nadat hij afgelopen augustus al stevige kritiek leverde op Rumsfeld, gaat hij in een ruim negen minuten durende monoloog eloquent tekeer tegen de beslissing om niet minder, maar juist méér troepen naar Irak te sturen en geen samenwerking te zoeken, maar opnieuw te dreigen:
Only this president could extol the “thoughtful recommendations of the Iraq Study Group,” and then take its most far-sighted recommendation — “engage Syria and Iran” — and transform it into “threaten Syria and Iran” [..] "Most importantly, perhaps, Mr. Bush, the plan fails because it still depends on your credibility. You speak of mistakes and of the responsibility “resting” with you. But you do not admit to making those mistakes. And you offer us nothing to justify this clenched fist toward Iran and Syria."
